Harry and Sally first meet as they finish college in Chicago and spend 18 hours together in a car headed to New York. They don't quite hit off, particularly after Harry opines that a man and a woman can never be just friends because he'll always want to have sex with her. Over the next 10 years, they occasionally meet and soon do in fact become fast friends. They share the intimate details of their lives – hopes, dreams, failures and successes – and in the process also fall in love. It's not evident that will be able to sustain their relationship once they sleep together however.

This movie is not just your average chick flick tearjerker romance movie. I’m sure that a lot of guys can relate to this movie as well.

First of all, there are some hilarious lines in this movie that will appeal to men and women. Second, the orgasm scene in the restaurant has got to be one of the funniest scenes in movie history. And finally, the guys will be cheering on Billy Crystal, as he makes love to a LOT of women in this movie. I really enjoyed this movie, and I’m pretty sure that I am a guy (I’ll check later.
Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan will remind everyone of their everyday lives in this true-to-life (and very funny) movie. So guys, don’t reject “When Harry Met Sally. just because women cried at it. And girls, if you see this movie, you will probably want to see it another 50 times.

I love this movie. It’s one of my favorites. It was Meg Ryan’s breakthrough role as a leading actress. It brought Harry Connick, Jr. into the spotlight. It was one of the first movies to use classic music as an element in the film. It introduced the phrases “High Maintenance” and “Low Maintenance” into the cultural lexicon.
It was a groundbreaking film with an incredible cast. Not just Meg and Billy, but I loved Bruno and Carrie as the best friends, too. This is a classic and will always have a spot on my short list of favorite films. Go get the DVD. You’ll love it, too.

Arrival? Just came out on DVD today. Definitely my favorite film of 2016. Or any of the Oscar best screenplay (adapted or original) nominees.
My favorite movie. Not watching. You really did a number on this one. Video and audio is a mess. You didn’t have to edit it this much. You could have just cut out the audio at certain parts like most do and still kept it online. Bad deal.
Would you ever consider analyzing the screenplay for a TV show? I know it is difficult because there are so many episodes to choose from. However, I have a suggestion. It would be EXCEEDINGLY interesting to look at the parallels of the Season 4 finale of House M.D. and the Season 4 finale of Sherlock. As they are both inspired by/based on Sherlock Holmes, I think it is very interesting to examine them, and I think that these episodes are particularly suitable for comparison (They are also both quite heartbreaking. It is important to watch not just the finale episode of House Season 4, but the episode before it, as it is two parts.

Romantic comedy’s are like a guilty pleasure I’m proud of

I think people misinterpret the message of this film all the time. They think the question is, Can men and women be friends? No, the sex gets in the way. But what Ephron shows is that the sex part isn’t what brings Harry & Sally together. If that were the case, they would have gotten together once during their road trip in college and never again. That real relationships are built upon friendship first.

Historia tytułowych bohaterów, którzy przez 12 lat przypadkowo się spotykają, nadal należy do jednej z najbardziej lubianych przez widzów komedii romantycznych. Harry i Sally mimo wielu prób, na jakie wystawił je los, ostatecznie uświadamiają sobie, że od dawna się kochają i chcą być razem. Trudno wyobrazić sobie, czy film zdobyłby tak wielką popularność, gdyby reżyser spełnił swój początkowy zamiar.
Reżyser Rob Reiner niedawno ujawnił, że początkowo nie chciał, żeby bohaterowie zostali parą. Jego własne złe doświadczenia położyły się cieniem na przyszłości, jaką wymyślił dla Sally i Harry’ego. Stwierdził, że jego bohaterowie także zasługują na happy end. „Zdecydowaliśmy się zakończyć film w ten sposób, że Sally i Harry wracają do siebie”. Dzięki temu powstał kultowy oraz nominowany do wielu nagród film, a Meg Ryan stała się królową komedii romantycznych.
Odtwórca głównej roli Billy Crystal w swojej książce Still Foolin’ ‘Em ujawnił z kolei szczegóły dotyczące innej słynnej sceny z filmu, Sally udającej orgazm podczas lunchu z Harrym. Żeby pokazać Meg Ryan, co ma na myśli, reżyser sam usiadł naprzeciwko niej, zaczął krzyczeć w ekstazie. Scenę nagrywano w nowojorskim Lower East Side przez cały dzień zanim aktorce po wielu próbach udał się fałszywy orgazm.

When I saw this film, my instant thought was ‘oh my god, this is so overrated. But, when thinking about it more, I think that it’s just not aged particularly well and maybe I’d have appreciated it more if I’d the age I am now in 1989.
Despite this, I thought the script still sparkled – there are some genuinely funny (and strikingly truthful) lines sprinkled about. I was surprised that the fake orgasm scene, even though it has been played SO often, remained laugh-out-loud funny. Thought Billy Crystal was great but I wasn’t all that taken with Meg Ryan – possibly because all that wide-eyed innocence doesn’t wash with me having seen her surly and quite frankly, rude appearance on Parkinson. And I wasn’t all too sure about the ‘real-life couples’ bits.
However, come the end, I was crying – it was genuinely touching, after all, and as a romantic comedy, is a lot funnier, smarter and more salient than many of its modern-day counterparts.
